if possible, when you change springs(esp on windsor heads with that tool) get a piece of alum. pipe 1" dia and a little longer than the cams, gears must be off, put cam caps on and slide pipe in from front. it will remove out of way when needed and you don't have the cam lobes fighting you. I did this and it made the job WAY easier

The flight to Chicago would save me about $300 on the install. Want to come to the Windy City, party, and work on cars?

That write-up made it look too easy.

I also thought "Hey, that's a 2v, that means it will be 4000x more fun on a 4v!"

How hard are they to put in? I'm a little apprehensive about messing with the internals. (My bad I see the write up now. good job).

Its not a "hard install" its just teadious and so much gentle, slow, and methodical little things like installing keepers. You just have to take your usual pace and knock it down about 25%. Thats the best info i can give, now when we install my cams I plan on getting it done it a day, because i have half as much to do and its fresh to me and Steven.

Ya in all aspects i thought it was going to be hard but it really easy after I slowed down and looked at everything. And if you install your own cams and u have a tuner like a x-cal or diablo i found that setting my driving idle up to max and setting my neutral idle speed to 900 made my car really drivable and it dosent die everytime you stop at a light and you still get a mean sounding idle. I have enjoyed the looks plp in my town have been giving my car. I am the only 4.6 mustang that i know of that is cammed in my town right now.

What kind of gains can you expect from a cam swap?

Dang quick response. Yea I didn't know it required that many things. I would ask you if it was worth it but i'm pretty sure I already know your answer.

well his car has the press on cam gears so we had to get the cam gears but he wanted new chains so that was extra.
