what are symptoms of a bad or worn tie rod end?

usually if you go over a bump or something the tie rods are bad, jack up the car have someone hold the wheel if there is any play in the wheel its probably shot

well if your going around a turn and it squeeks with throttle would that be a tie rod or God... I cant rememebr the name...
