lost my keys now what

Long story short I lost my keys.
What can I do now?

I was told by a local lock smith that they can replace my locks but I will need to have the system re-programed .

What are they talking about exactly?

the key has a chip inside it and it activates the computer. you need to go to ford to get a ford key give them your VIN and they will cut the key then you have to have the car towed there to program it

you have PATS which is a security system on our cars... each key has a computer chip in it with a distinked code so no one can steel our cars even with the same teeth on the key... they will have to reprogram the PATS system with the new keys

PATs system, the key has a chip the ECM recognizes... your car wont start if you don't have it programmed

probably gonna have to go to a dealership

jumping on the band wagon here...like everyone said you have PATS..

To be short and to the point, you need TWO new keys since the whole system reset requires it...thats roughly $40-42 retail for the keys, or cheaper if you know someone...i can probably help you since i work for ford anyways. and about a range of $92-however much they want to charge you, for labor.

all in all if you go by your nearest dealer your looking at over $200+ dollars (no discount) to just start your car.

It is true...you can do it with one key...but the process i saw just to do it with one almost made my mind explode with all the steps required to do it yourself.

Now if your talking about with the PCM connected with FORD's comp system then i wouldn't have a clue.

You'd be surprised...getting the part is easy...having an accurate quote for labor is near next to impossible.

Reason 1:HMUSN could have taken off the PATS system via a programmer

Reason 2:Their is always a way around any system...they could of bypassed the PATS system and rigged it to straight wire it to the ignition.

i could be wrong on reason 2, but anything can happen given persistance and utter reason for that person to be a complete asshole to steal HMUSN's car and have the skills to hotwire and or find a way around the system.
