couple questions
hey guys i have a couple questions. i want to get gears and i was leaning towards 3.73 because i have to drive to work on the interstate. its only like 15 min but i still dont want to put wear and tear on the motor. ive been wondering tho how would 3.90s be on the interstate? would they still be too much gear? my other question is about a shifter. i already have a b&m short throw but i was wondering if an upgrade to an mgw would be worth the money?

3.90's shouldnt be too much worse then 3.73's. and the mgw is IMO the best shifter out there.

difference between 3.73 and 4.10 sticky is right above. If anyone is worried about gas then keep the stock gears. Why spend money on gears and then only get ones that give decent performance when you can get gears for the same price and get better performance

410's all the way, I still get decent milage on the highway... 373's aren't worth it in my opinion...

asking about gears that close in ratio is like a fat chick... she weighs in at 373lbs, 390lb, or 410lbs... in the end theyr all fat chicks so i say bang the biggest one and brag about your adventures

I got 3.90s in mine and there fine for highway speeds I still get good gas mileage even better than my 01 with the stock gears in it of course that ones an auto though, but you wont sacrifice much with 3.90s. Of course first gear is almost nonexistant, as soon as I get moving, its time for second

well its not really the gas mileage as much as the high rpms being hard on the motor when im on the interstate that im worried about. i kno that its pretty much agreed that the mgw is the best shifter out there but the fact that i already have a short throw makes it hard for me to spend $180 or so, but i probably dont understand bc i dont have an mgw lol

If your car sees a lot of track time and is going to stay n/a, go for the 3.90's or 4.10's. Otherwise 3.73's will be plenty for light to light fun on the street. They will have a higher top end, also. As far as the shifter, the difference will be adjustability. The MGW is higher quality, but in the long run, spending 190 bucks for a short throw shifter if you already have one is probably not worth it. If your shifter is acting up, sticking, worn, or just not working for you, then I would say switch it out.

Well I would probably go with the 4.10's since your on the highway for such a short period of time. Also I ended up going with the steeda tri ax shifter and wouldnt trade it for the world (well I would) but anyways... Its an awesome shifter. But since you already have one, I wouldnt waste the money. The biggest thing is getting rid of the stock sponge they call a shifter
