Painting Bullitt wheels

I was thinking since I don't have the money right now for new wheels I could go ahead and paint the centers of my stock bullitts black (going for the black-on-black theme)... what you guys think?

here is my suggestion. buy the ebay black bullitts. they are $400 and take your rims to a local wheel shop and sell them. they will give you close to that price. dont risk screwing up your rims

i painted mine. still in the process of finishing. they look awesome IMO. just make sure you do a really good job prepping them and taping them off.

Prime the centers. i left the polished lip and i think they look awesome. i'll get a pic tommorow and post it

simple green. 320 block sander and high heat gloss black engine enamel. the duplicoler wheel paint just seemed a lil cheap. I work at autozone and people have told me about that stuff pealin but a buddy put that stuff on his differential on his mud truck and it didn't chip so that's what i'm going with.

that's what i went by.

go to a napa or car quest get some red scotch bright to scuff the surface do so until there is NO shine left. also get some cleaner from them and tack rags. make sure you clean the surface well after sanding it then blow it off and "tack it" with the tack cloth. as for the paint your on your own there i would use ppg paint and clear but i have paint guns compressor and a booth to dry them. advanced carries some decent wheel paints make sure put multiple coats of base and clear. Prepping is crucial!!!!

well the engine enamel im using is duplicoler. they only have the flat black in the wheel coating. that's the only reason i opted not to use it. i wanted GLOSSY GLOSSY BLACK. lol.

my buddy painted his bullets black and they turned out great man, he showed me pics after i bought my 18x9/10's, or else i would have just painted my 17's, i had brand new fn tires on them LOL but i agree with the prep, just prep them bad boys good and all the paint should stick. i also agree that the engine enamel black paint is VERY glossy lol so i think i would say use it, i put my 17's on my girls 96 gt, and i am trying to talk her into letting me paint them black but she said she 'hates' black wheels ... shes jealous cuz how sexy mine looks haha ... but yeah DIY man should look great black on black!

Mine are painted, just gotta be sure to do a good prep job. I had mine sprayed by a body shop, not a rattle can job. They look great plus no one has the same color.

+1 on base coat/clear coat. I would not use anything out of a spray can. but if you do, put alot of LIGHT coats. DO NOT put it on heavy. It should take a few times to cover it. But by the time you pay someone to paint and clear them, you coulda just bought some more rims.
