Reverse Glow Problem

I just bought my 2001 GT Vert. It already hade white face guages installed. The only thing that lites up are the needles. I'm not sure what brand they are, but they have a box wired in and a controller to switch from blue to green as well as a rotary dimmer. Look like the ones I saw on AM,s site.
Anyway, when I pulled the cluster I found the power and ground wires not hooked up. I wired the power to the heavy grey wire on the headlite plug and the groung to the steel tube. Still nothing. I'm not new to wiring, but am I missing something or did I get a bad one.

yeah i got the same one, but with the silver face.. i have mine ran to the wire in the back of the AC face.. it's been working up until last week.. i think i blew a fuse or sumthin..

I hate to order a new kit if its some problem I'm missing.

mine did that, one of the wires came off the back of the controller of mine.

shoould just be able to crack open the box an soilder the wire back together if thats what came also
