Cold Air Intake Question..

Hey i bought my mustang about 2 months ago and am starting to look into putting stuff into it. My friend has a cold air intake on his Acura RSX type s ( ricer i know ) and when he his rpm hits about 5 grand you can really hear this thing kick in, and its LOUD. I was wondering if my mustang would do that if i picked up a cold air intake. Also wuts the difference between short ram and cold air. Thanx a lot.

your not gonna really feel a cai, i would stay away from anything chrome or metal, makes too much heat and defeats the purpose. i say get a JLT ram air intake. google jlt cold air intakes and it will take you too his site. He is local for me and a really good guy. And a even better product

you really wont get the deep sound from the cai on a modular motor but it will make power and maybe even mpg. if you hear any it will be very very little, if that is what you are going for you will be dissapointed.

well like 99stang said. go with a composite. i like and prefer the k&n but thats me. the reason his car kicks in and gets louder at 5000 rpm is becasue that car has vtec and thats when it comes in. depending on the mods to the rsx the vtec can be very loud. thats probably what your hearing at 5grand

cai moves your filter from the engine bay to the fender of your wheel well to get colder air hince the name

Ram air gets air from the bumper and directs it towards your filter
and that is the difference

Very true... While I am new to mustangs, i am definately not new to bolt on mods. In all the cars ive ever seen, the most sound you will get from CAI, ram air, or any variation is a hardly noticable whistle... Like all Honda engines the sound you are hearing is the vtec...

i have had both the bbk and the cold air jlt on my stang..

the jlt is hands up the better of the 2. and it does make a sound in the higher rpms.. like a high pitched sucking noise. but then again that''s exactly what it is supposed to do.
i got my jlt for 220 shipped and that's with custom painting

The JLT is a great CAI. I went with the Roush becuase at the time Ford was doing a lot for me because i was getting the car.

Everyone is going to have a preference...

I prefer JLT becuase it is a very well designed piece and JLT is based out of Va Beach so he is local...

K&N is good I am sure...
