rediculous idea..

Alright, today I was just bored and thinking about different crap for mustangs. Well, I started thinking about your average single turbo system and how it has a downpipe that leads to a y that connects to your factory or aftermarket exhaust. this may not be possible, or just completely a horrible idea for performance.. but I was thinking.. why would it not be feasible to say buy a shorty (or regular size, cuz i don't know how your average hellion or hp downpipe looks) midpipe and have a shop custom fit a y pipe between the mid and downpipe? and you probably ask why why especially if it is a decent amount of money for no performance gains or possibly even a small loss in power or increase in spool time. i was just brainstorming today and wondering. the main thing i figured would be increased spool time.. other than that, what do you guys think? my reasoning is because i'd like to alter the tone and volume levels of my exhaust with a mid but that'd not be possible if i went turbo.. of course the tone will change, but volume mostly id think, with the single pipe going y into the aftermarket exhaust.. but eh.. yeah ill stop here and watch for flaming, input, criticism etc.

Your Y pipe is your mid-pipe... your idea is a waste of time and money... do not do it.

and no, it doesn't affect the turbo, it will spin at w.e speed it wants to based on the engines exhaust... the piping after that has almost no effect, another idea that you might look into is going back to a V6 mustang look with single exhaust ... that is if you engine fucking with people

but what is stopping someone from doing something like this? and i figured it'd affect spool time because it's have to work harder to "push" the exhaust a longer distance since it is two pipes in places where it would've been one pipe before

As soon as your exhaust splits, it should remain that way...

adding a mid pipe would do absolutely nothing... honestly you don't need to split the flow or give it more room because the turbo creates back pressure for its self, adding piping after does two things, give the exhaust a place to go and protects the internals of the exducer some protection from anything that might get in there

so what you're saying is that you wouldn't gain anything and there is no reason to do it.. but it is possible?
