How much should I pay for Installed gears?

Hello,
Great threads on gear ratios and what to go with. Just stopped by Redline Performance Automotive that I was recommneded from this site. They seem to have a fabulous shop and from what I hear great work on mustangs. I asked them how much for installing gears. They told me they would put a set of 4:10 in for around 650 to 700 installed. That is the purchase of gears included with installation. I have a diablo handheld tuner to adjust the gear ration on the comp. Is this a good deal? Please let me know. Thanks

I payed 250 for gears myself and 250 for them installed by a friend that works at a Ford dealership.

I'd say buy the gears and I'm willing to say there's some gearheads in your area willing to help or would do it for a way better price.

Ford wanted 900 for frpp 373's installed in my 00 gt.

But i heard of a shop in my area that dose the install for 300, so with the gears that would be about 570, so i think that 700 is sligtly high.

$400 with a rebuild kit. Anything over 500 is just flat out riduculous.

The local performance shop here charged me just a hair over $300 for the gears and install.

$700 is high...for jeeps its $1,000-$1,200 for gears installed (if not less) and thats front AND rear. which means its about $500-$600 per axle at most. you shouldn't pay more than that at all.

Ask them how much they charge for labor alone assuming you already have the gears.
