guage switch? need help with reverse glow gauges!!!!!!!!!!

the only part on my gauges that glows is the needles and sometimes when i turn it headlights on the gauges will glow for a second and then stop glowing. i was lookin around in my car tonight and found a switch that has a knob that turns and says min on one end and max on the other, and theres a switch that says blue on one end and green on the other...does this have anything to do with my gauges?? if anyone can help me get em working that would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

that knob controls how bright or dim they are, and the green/blue buttons change the color. or so its suppose too lol

sounds like a bad connection though if it only works sometimes, possibly a bad ground

honestly ive never really messed with glow gauges but if the needles light up thats from the actual light in the cluster which is wired all into your parking lights. i believe the reverse glow gauges are an electroluminesent panel which would have their own power source. trace that knob/button wire and see were it goes, that should lead you to the problem

no its not the switch...............im saying the switch controls the power lighting the gauge face. so therefore if you follow those wires youll find a bad connection or something along that line, you know?

ok i took the gauge cluster out and removed the plate under the steering column so i could see the wires better. theres two white wires connected on either side of the bottom of the gauge cluster that run into a little blue box behind the knob, and that box is connected to the blue/gray wires on the switch that i mentioned. other than that i dont really know what im lookin at under there. i found the grounds but i cant link em to anything that i can recognize...

Mine did the same thing.. i need a new switch because it was soldored bad and it pulled out one of the pins.... So if anybody knows where to find one would be awesome :p

But i would check to see if the switch wires are all tight, have the gauge on and play with wires (gauge and elsewhere).

yes there could be a bad soldering problem inside the switch but if you can try taking to trim panel off around the cluster so you can take apart your headlight switch, the power might be running there and it could have came off, or it could be running to the fuse box
