Another Cam Question

I have been searching and reading old threads for 2 hours now. More confused now then before.

I want to install cams in my 01 gt 2v n/a can I run stage 2 cams with no ptv issue or not? Can I use stock springs or not ? also its an auto

If not I will run the stage 1's or something else someone recomends. how much of a sound difference at idle is there between the 2. I want something to perform well and sound good at idle.

or is there a custom grind that someone has experience with that they would recomend for me.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks John

If you plan to run N/a Hitech motors stage 2 make about the best power and drivability of all the shelf cams. If you plan to run a custom grind you may find that changes down may change the power output. I have spec'ed out dozens of cams for NA combo's and had success, the people that change things later are the ones that usually end up ordering another set. Heads, headers, torque convertors, intake systems, ect. can make or break a custom cam. Good luck on your choice.

Be sure to take the time to degree the cams and check all your clearances. The people that have PTV are the ones that skip this important step...

Hitech Ford 4.6 / 5.4 2V N/A Stage 2 Camshaft [Hitech2061] - $599.00 : Hitech Motorsport Inc, Performance EFI Tuning / EFI Dyno Tuning Experts - Elk River, Minnesota - Midwest Region

You only have to worry about ptv if you don't degree tha cams. Over and over say ptv like it is the cam manufacturers fault, it is never the cam it is failure to check clearances that lead to the cause.
