My new thought is that maybe it's the PCM. There's 3 or 4 coils that intermittently get spark. PCM reader says 3 bad primary coils. I don't think 3 coils would go bad at once. That leads me to the PCM. Help please. I don't want to buy this expensive part unless I am pretty sure. I took the coils not firing, switched them with the ones that do fire, and they worked. So I know it's not bad coils.

check it with the car running. You are going to wanna but it on A/C voltage because it's a reluctor wheel sensor so it supplies an analog signal to the PCM but if the crankshaft is not turning then it is not going to read voltage. By the way make sure you check the plugs. It could be something as simple as a plug thats shorting every now and then. Don't assume it is your PCM just because it is intermittent.

i think when he says the engine is was not running when tested he meant period...like it will crank but not fire maybe? if the crank sensor is bad that will cause a no start
