Are headers pointless?

I want to get a mid pipe asap, id like headers but $600 isnt in my budget right now, but the thing about getting a mid pipe is that i wanted long tubes, and those with a mid pipe that fit stock exhaust manifolds wont work, so are headers worth it?

^+1 Just hold off and save your money.

I think they are worth it, probably the second best mod i`ve done to my car, they are a freaking pain in the ass to install but it was worth it.

It will be loud but not that bad, at least he has a LM2 cat back, I think that would sound amazing with LTs.

save up and do it all at once. Get the headers and midpipe from the same manufacturer. I reccomend BBK ceramic headers and catted x pipe. High quality parts for a good price. Just be smart and keep cats on your exhaust. High flow aftermarket cats are so efficient nowadays that theres no difference in performance btw o/r and high flow catted mid pipes. Also, you will pass emissions, you wont get fined, you wont get impounded, you wont need to buy MIL eliminators, and you wont need a tune. KEEP CATS, SAVE FOR HEADERS! do it right or dont do it at all.

actually you wont pass emissions with any long tube headers, they move the O2 sensors from there factory location.

You WILL pass emissions, its inspection that causes the issue. But, i have never had an issue w/ my mechanic and dunno anyone who has. Its dumb.. You still have O2 sensors, just with extensions on them. They do the same thing and are in the "same" location, its just that the bung is farther back in relation to the frame, not the cats. Any self respecting mechanic would let you slide on that!

Most people do let your slide, but that is just technically what the law states. I dont agree with it by any means though.

ya, its retarded. Because if you think about it they really are in the same place in relation to the cats, thus performing the same job.

I agree completely. I`m just glad there aren't emissions inspections (sniffer or visual) down here.
