Nitrous

is there anything I should do to the engine before I run any nitrous? in my 240 the stock internals can handle up to a 100 shot no problem...I don't know about my gt.

run some 93oct and get some colder plugs and spray it. your gt can handle a 100shot no problem. you can retard the timing to be safer but you should have no problems with a 100shot

Get the NGK TR6 plugs and they do come pre-gapped, but i always double check the gaps anyways. Stay away from Autolites IMO. I wouldn't be sparaying any more than a 100 shot w/o more mods and most importantly a tune! Your gonna want to spary more once you see what it does, but DONT! Good idea is to give your other jets to a friend you can trust. Me and a friend of mine who own a camaro are giving one another our jets and then making a list of requirement detailing what we must do in order to allow the other to have his next jet size(ex. you must have a tune and new manifold to get you 150 shot). I recommend this plan to anyone getting into nitrous. Its a good way to avoid destroying your car.

that's all for 150 shot? manifold and tune? at what point do I start throwing rods through the hood and things like that?

you would be risking it with a 150shot stick with a 100

no... those were just some examples. I was just trying to make the point that you should stick w/ the 100 unless you plan on making some major modifications, most important being the tune. You'd need a lot more to be safe. manifold, tune, WOT, bottle heater, ignition box, the list goes on. I was just trying to share the idea of having someone else hold your jets for u. Its a very smart play!

like matt said ngk tr6 gapped at .034

also even if your spraying a 100 shot, you should have a wot switch, a window switch, bottle warmer and all of the safety equipment. lots of people have sprayed a 150 shot on their stock motor and been fine, but you would have to run hihger octane and pull a tad of timing to be safe.

with your 100 shot, you can eitehr pull 2-3 degrees of timing, just to be on the safe side or always run 93 octane on stock timing to be safe. some will say you can do it with stock timing and octane, but why risk it. some ave been fine, some have had bad problems.

you need a window switch to control when your car sprays the nitrous (rpm), id reccomend never below 3000 rpm for a 100 shot, or a 3500 for a 150 shot. if you go below these, you set your self up for the possibilty of the fuel in the nitrous mix to puddle up in the intake, and then light off and cause a nice big explosion insdie your intake which destroys it and possibly your hood and your cia

That sounds like a great plan. I mean if he has your jets and you have his, there's no way you could use his in your kit??????? Second, I constantly spray 200+ on a stock manifold........
