Headlights not fitting right.

Just installed a set of smoked headlights and I love the look but they dont seem to sit flush like the factory headlights. Is this common and has anybody else had this problem? I got them from americanmuscle by the way. Thanx!

Yeah I have heard of this before. Just go to Mustang Forums and send a PM to AMNick, tell him your probs.... he will make right on it! AM is a great company when it comes to customer service. I have never heard of em NOT making it right when things go wrong. And (as in ANY business) things WILL go wrong sometimes.

I got the Chrome headlights from there..slid right in. On the corner of the headlights where those metal prongs stick out i had to kinda push the headlight to get those to set in there good. Do your brakcets that slid in to hold the headlights fit?

I pulled a set from our current inventory and we ran through and installation on an employee car. We messed around with the headlights and the rubber weather strip that Ford uses between the headlights and the car.

From what we can tell, both the factory headlights and the aftermarket ones that are designed from the factory headlights have a pretty decent uneven gap with the weather strip removed and it seems Ford uses the weather strip to hide the gap since the size of the gap is going to change with the headlight aiming process. We found that the weather strip can be manipulated to get a better fit on the new sets, while the weather strip can manipulated on a stock unit to replicate the "gap problem".

I would play around and see if you can get the rubber strip to fit better...if you still can't, either give us a call, or PM me and we can set up an RMA to exchange the headlights out for you.
