Changing the spark plugs

any tips i need to know for doing this on a coil on plug set up? Ive only changed plugs on cars with the plug wires and cap and all like on 5.0s and older cars...

any tips? also do i only need to take off the intake pipe or is there more to get to the passenger side?

just loosen the neck that goes on the TB and it will make it easier. a swivel for your ratchet will help too.

the two in the very back (#7 & #8) are the only ones that suck, i just went ahead and took my throttle body off and unpluged #6 and #8 fuel injectors from their harness which made it easier to get back there with my hands, just remember to take pictures of you taking things apart if you do that so you know exactly how it goes back together

oh and dont panic if the rubber boot comes off the coil, they can do that, its not broken, just line up the two arrows on the bottom of the coil and the rubber boot

yeah i just went out to look at it and it looks like the hardest part is gonna be getting to them...

I have to take that chrome rail off that holds the injectors and all that shit off to get to em... doesnt look hard, but it does look very time consuming

Dont have to take off the fuel rails. I have changed the plugs a dozen times with the issues i was having... You will need to take the intake tube off. And take the TB out... a swivel and an extension is all you will need... and a if your sockets are not magnetized like mine... you will need a magnet of some sort to pull plugs out.

Its easy, the back 2 are hard... You will have the most trouble just unplugging them and plugging them back in.

Use anti-seize grease on the new plugs and make sure the heads are cool before messing with the plugs.

+1!

Anti seize is a must. So you dont strip threads the next time you pull them... and they go in much easier!

No need to take tb off either, just the intake tube. 7mm socket for the coils.

i pulled my intake tube off and pulled the fuel rails off and used a extension and a spark plug socket...if you have access to a air blower i would blow out the recess the plugs sit in before you pull them

yeah. ive already changed the plugs. i did it today

I managed to squeeze my huge ass hands into the areas needed and got them. I ended taking a shop vac to all the plug hole after I took the coil pack off to try to get all the excess. We didnt have pressured air or anyhting...

I got it running and everything and I can tell a difference. It climbs rpms a bit better and the tone is a bit lower.

I know this is an old post but...
+1 swivel.

I changed my plugs for the first time yesterday. It pretty much would have been impossible without a swivel. And the only reason I got one was because of this post.
