rev higher, rev to 5000-5500 and side step the clutch and get on the brake as soon as you can. if it still isnt working, your doing something wrong and in that case, id suggest a linelock

It should be easier in the water box anyway.

Ok as they said before... A line Lock will help ya out on this but its really not NEEDED.

But in any case...
With the clutch IN and tranny in 1st. The way I get it done is I put 1 half of my right foot on the brake and with my ankle I kinda lean it over and ease on the gas at the same time. When ya start getting some RPMs with the brake on start releasing the clutch. When you feel the suspension preload or lurch forward. You can start giving her more gas and while still holding the brake with the same foot all while letting the clutch on out. When the wheels brake loose you can go ahead and get off the clutch all the way and get the left foot on the gas.

This is just how I myself do it. And it even took my a few tries to get it down.

burnouts without a line lock are realy hard on the input shaft for the tranny. spend a little money and get a LL. they are cheaper than fixing your tranny and replacing brakes. and when you get the hang of it, second gear will give you a better burnout.

i'm going to get a line-lock soon...just needed a quick fix for friday

has anyone else this much trouble learning how to do this? or is it just me lol

Buy the SLP kit for the 99-04..easy install...everything is pre-bent and has the correct fittings for our Mustangs.

But till then, back into the water box, Put in 2nd Gear, Press the brake and clutch in with the same foot, bring Rpms to 4500 then slip your foot off the clutch, keep the rpms from 4-5k rpm, tilt your power mirrors towards the ground so you can see smoke coming from your wheel wells. Once you see smoke go about another 4-5 seconds then let off the brake and keep the rpms at 4-5k till it hooks. The reason you do it in 2nd gear is because 1st gear revs to quickly to keep under control and in 2nd your tires will spin faster.

Just takes practice man, I use the side step and usually dont have a problem. As said above you shouldnt have a problem at all in the water box.
