long tubes question

do you have to remove the motor mounts and jack the engine up to get them in there? i really don't want to fuck with this stuff just to get some headers in. and do you have to remove your engine to get your k-member out?

some people unbolt the motor mount and jack up the engine one side at a time. some guys drop the k member. if you drop the k member, you don't have to pull the motor, but you will have to hoist it because when you drop the k member, there won't be anything to support the engine...

i saw a picture of the old k member and a new one and im like wow that one looks hideous, haha its almost worth switching out just for the amount of room you'll have. i think.

i would imagine that if it's something you plan on doing anyway, swapping k members would be a good thing to do while you're doing your long tubes...

well aside from the weight, are there any more advantages or downfalls of them? the only thing i know about them is that i'd have to get one if i got a twin turbo system lol. and that they're lighter than stock.

Yeah, i wouldn't imagine it possible without a k member upgrade.

I've heard about it being done (not sure how credible though...) with out removing the K-member or pulling the engine or anything like that (on a 2v, not sure about them 4v's). But it would be a major pain. It would def be easier to swap the K-member for a new one and replace the headers at the same time rather then only do LTs.

I already had swapped my K member out, so when I installed my headers it was alot easier. I also upgraded my mounts as well. Goodluck with the install, it's definately well worth the effort.

ive bought them and they're on their way, but was low on funds, so a k-member would need to wait quite a while.

That sucks man. Well, you can try to put them in if you want, but if you plan on swapping out your K-member eventually, then I would wait. If you do the headers now and wait until later to do the K-member, your basically going to be reinstalling your hearders all over again...

well i would do it just to make things easier and make the front end lighter, other than that i really had no intentions of getting one. just dont know how hard of a process it is in the first place.

GMS makes a quality K member, at a good price. Check out summitracing.com probably can get everything for less than $400.00 I paid over $600.00 for my Maximum Motorsports K member. Had I known I woulda bought the GMS.

Cross Canada is a big Canadian Car Parts Distribiutor if they can't get it through Keystone. Then try Canadian Tire, they sell everything, lol that was a joke.
