Engine Problems?



i am wondering if any one can help in figureing out what could the problem be......at 3.5k rpms i hear a tapping noise coming from the engine. does anyone have any ideas on what could be the problem?

maybe a lifter or a rod does it go away after 3.5 rpms is it loud

are you sure it's from the engine and not the headers?
is it in neutral or in gear when you bring it up to 3.5k?
could be alot.

more info please.

pop your hood and have a buddy slowly rev it to 3.5k and listen to where the sound is coming from.

i doubt it's detenation since your only at 3.5k unless you have an assload of mods and no tune.

it happens when the engine has a load.......i goes away once i have it in neutral....


stage 2 ported and polished heads....PI heads
270 cams
jlt cold air intake

it doesnt really matter who made the heads, but whether you have a tune or not. all of thise different mods, are going to change the way the car runs a lot, gonna change your fuel needs, and if there is not tune, your not getting the right doses of fuel and that is very dnagerous

maybe it just had bad gas n its all out now? or the song on the radio made some funky noises. lol ive done that befor. the radio playin a dumb song with weird noises that i thought my car was makin lol

Tapping noise can be caused by low oil pressure or some parts are damaged on you engine. Check the engine dipstick if you have a low oil level.
