Shocks and Struts

Hey guys, I'm in the process of upgrading my suspension. My car is a street car with the occasional track use. Now my question is, do I need to replace the stock shocks and struts when lowering? And what are the benefits from doing so?

Thanks
Al

Id suggest it if you can do it, you'll get alot better handling from it, and sometimes the stock rear shocks will bottom out when lowered

thanks for the quick reply, and yeah that wouldn't be too good lol. I guess I'll suck it up and get shocks and struts along with CC plates.

Now the question is, what are the perks to having adjustables?

You can lower the car without shocks and struts but ride quality during daily driving will go down the drain, invest in good set of some sort of adjustibles, and also some c/c plates, you'll be much happier you did.

depends what your going for, I am getting the HP non adjustables with 1.5" lowering springs and its only going to cost me 439.95, which is still cheeper than the bullit package and mach 1, I would like to get the D-Specs but I'm on a budget and I have leaking struts and a bad shock

KYB are basically stock. They difference is extremely small. But since the sportlines are basically stock springs that are shorter, they would be fine. Just remember, you get what you pay for. The only issue I would say, is that the KYB's will not last as long as a better company's pieces. For daily driving it won't matter, especially if you only do drag. If you were doing some sort of road racing it would matter, but unless you are going serious drag racing, its not worth it to bump up to the better pieces. 5 way illuminas are the best pieces you can get for drag racing aside from custom valved parts.

Mach is already lowered from the factory, and it uses Tokico shocks/struts.

Thats expensive! AM has them all for about 291 OTD! Those Blue HP non adjustables should be sufficient for a daily driver, and its a performance mod as well.

Technically the differece is that the Machs have new stiffer sway bars and What are almost exactly the same as ford C springs, and I'm not sure about the shocks. They may be HPs. The kit is good if you want to drop an inch or so and be basically stock. There is a kit that you can get that has all of the Sportline springs and a set of shocks that is fairly cheap. Not the best set up performance wise. But a great set for mostly stock handling and much better looks.
