Engine Question

At my local junk yard I can get a 2001 Crown VIC engine for $130 and I was wondering if it is the same block as the 2002 Mustang GT block minus the intake cause I would like to buy this engine, forge it and swap my Heads, and intake over to it.

Thanks! how hard would it be to pull the engine though? I know I have all the tools I need but I know that engines gotta be pretty heavy, im planning on just taking the block and leaving all else behind to save weight so I can try and muscle it into the back of van or truck...

well im not 100% on the sockets. Id say if you have a set to bring with you, bring them all. And the junkyard if theylle do the job for you. I know when one of my friend up here in NY got an engine from a yard, they took it out for him no charge.

Hopefully they could, but if not, youlle get some good experiance taking the engine out. Its not all that bad. ive only done it twice and its not bad at all. If you get a friend, its actually kindof fun. lol

Went to the junk yard today and someone yanked the 2001 Crown Vic engine already, but there are alot of Ford based 4.6 liter cars out there with years ranging from 91-98 so I think I may go with the 94 Lincoln TownCar engine... I would imagine that it has Non PI heads but as long as I can bolt some ported PI heads on it i'll be happy

this may be stupid but what do yall think about taking a engine and trans(same as the gt) and put it in my v6? how hard would this swap be. im not ignorant when it comes to working on cars but im not all that experienced. ive done a clutch change out and thats about it as far as major stuff.

sell the v6 and buy a gt. honestly less hassle and its not worth it to swap the v6 out unless you are dropping in a crazy engine set up.

I will be doing a full detailed write-up with pics when I get back from the sandbox in 2 months on how to install and reinstall a 4.6 in a Mustang GT...

Its really not a tough job...Just time consuming...

A Cherry Picker makes things alot easier...
