It's pretty, and I bet would be pretty damned good for a f/i setup.

Running n/a I doubt there would be any measurable diffrence between the new BBK integrated unit and any good aftermarket plenum with a 70 mm TB. If you look at Accufab's flow data (click here for my reformatted version) you can see that on an n/a 2V, with a decent plenum, going from a 70 mm to a 75 mm TB does nothing because the outlet of the upper plenum/intake manifold inlet becomes the weak link.

I am curious to know if this would hurt a NA car. I am very tempted to buy this, as 230 bucks is a whole lot better than 400 bucks for the Accufab. Sure a NA car doesnt need such massive air flow, but it seems like a good way to upgrade the stock Tb/Plenum. However if it were to hurt performance, I would opt for the Accufab. Anyone have any dyno runs to show the effect of a large TB?

I used to have a 70mm, I changed heads and cams and upgraded to accufab 75mm. I think that 78 is too big for NA. You will loose power

I still dont get how a bigger inlet will hurt you? I doesnt make any sense from an engineering view, if its too big you just wont pull the max air thru that it can handle.

It can impact charge velocity.

Air has mass and therefore inertia, and the intake stream is a series of pulses as valves open and pistons fall, not a steady flow. If the velocity of each pulse is lessened (as can happen with too big a hole) then the inertia (which keeps the intake pulse in motion and tends to "shove" it into the cylinder) will be lessened. This can and does impact performance.

Once you start forcing the air in (as in forced induction) the importance of the inertia of the charge becomes much less of a factor, what you want then is a big-ass hole to push the air through.

I'd say stick with the 70mm. Mike Murillo told me 75 is just too big for the kind of power we push around in our 2vs N/A. He said the 70 would work fine- I have the BBK plenum and TB and love it. My car pulled real hard with the plenum and my K&N- sounds vicious under the hood, too.
