i think they just make the rear axle stiffer so it lessens wheel hop and sway and stuff

The function of the upper and lower control arms is to locate the rear axle. The stock ones do it poorly, which is why so many people have wheel hop issues, and got to aftermarket units.

Honostly.. i have no wheel hop issues in my car, just extreme loss of traction in 1st and 2nd... do you think if i get CA's paired with my current suspension and some FL Subframes, i'll get better low gear traction?

i've been wondering about this for a long time. so it is possible to have wheel hop when your under acceleration? thats what it feels like in my car anyway, its like its not completely hooking up but its not copletely breaking loose either

So is this usually worth the investment on a semi-modded stang, Close to stock?

LCAs, yes.
UCAs? Only if it's a drag-only car.

thats wheel hop. if your car has enough power to do that while in motion you should probably invest in control arms.
