I see here and there that people lower tire pressure for the 1/4 mile or whatever, whats up with that? Is it ok to run below the rated pressure for short times, or is that just with certain tires? What is recommended for street tires? Really what is going on is a cobalt wants to race again, for money of course. I don't think he would want to do that unless his car is faster, so I assume he changed something. All that has changed on my end is I drive better, some weight is gone, and I made some pos plenum spacer that I now believe did nothing aside from take up two hours of my life. I really don't want to lose, not a money issue, I just don't want to lose to a cobalt. So, what is there for input about my tire pressure?

for street driving your tire pressure should be around 32psi. If you are going to the track you lower your air pressure so you can hook up better. Most people with street tires don't do this unless you have some kdw's or nitto's.

it also depends on tire size. go too low and you will cup the tire, too much and you take away bite. i run 27 psi in mine, i run 275's out back. at the track i will lower to 21 or so depending on the conditions. remember, street tires are made to run warm, hot tires will be oilly, cold will be hard.
