im sure they sound a lot better than the stock, but I am also sure they sound louder. The stock pipe is 2.25 and the aftermarkets are 2.5". I dont have a midpipe yet, but I have a MAC cat back and I dont think it sounds to loud. I would like it to sound louder, so I am curious as to the answers you get on the catted mid.
Also, are all aftermarket catted mids high flow cats?

I have the MAC catback as well, and it sounds awesome. I could be a lil louder but since its my DD it good. The prochamber its about as loud at part throttle as it is at full throttle wit the stock mid-pipe.

Cat-backs were on my car when I bought it with stock headers and H-pipe. I installed BBK LTs with catted X-pipe. It's probably just as loud but it took a little of the deep base drone out of the exhaust when crusing at 2000 rpm. I can put up with my exhaust at 1800 rpm and 2200 rpm, but I would have to wear ear plugs if I were to drive very far at 2000 rpms.

Oh man, here we go. The catted Mid-Pipe is going to give you a slightly more muffled sound than your Pr-chamber but not a whole lot different. Pretty much, once you get an aftermarket, its going to be louder. Like they said above. 2.25" stock doesn't flow as much as a 2.5" aftermarket.
Alot of the noise your are going to hear and be able to do anything about is your cat-back. The style and company is going to make a big difference. The chambered mufflers (flowmaster, Mac etc.) are deeper and quieter, but have a tendency to drone. Especially with the Dump set up (tips don't go past the rear axle. The straight through type such as stingers or bbk's are louder, have a more high pitched raspy sound, but have much less drone. My car has the exhaust in my sig, and it is damn near unbearable from 1300-2000 rpm. At about 2000 rpm is sounds almost like stock inside the car, but its illegal loud from the outside. (true story, got pulled over 3 weeks ago for being too loud).

Not quieter it just changed the pitch a little. I believe the previous owner put on Flowmasters and its the cat-backs that make the difference.

The catted mid will quiet it down from the prochamber assuming your pro chamber is offroad but it will still provide high flow cats for better flow but not to to loud. Will def be louder than stock though

I spent 3 hours adjusting the mid pipe and catback. Turned there was a leak makin it extremely loud inside the car. I fixed it and it sounds so much better now. Its no louder than stock while cruising and sounds great at wot.
