Help Please Timing Cover!!!!

So to make a long story short, the timing cover on the front of my 02 GT motor is cracked and is now leaking oil. Does anyone know where I can get a replacement besides the ford dealer. Also I don't have time to fix it right now with work and all; does anyone know about how much the dealer will charge me to replace it. Thanks.

Its close to a 4.5 -5 hr job. If your dealer charges about $99/an hour thats $500 right there at most. It's showing me that the (est.) cost for the cover is around $200 give or take a few

Thanks man do you think the best place to take it is the dealer?

It's just so expensive, the motor has 77K on it, I was wondering if it would be worth it just to replace the motor with a 99 cobra motor. What do you think?

cobra motor would be a lot more than 700 bucks. You can take it to any mechanic... its pretty straight forward just takes a bit of time. Think there was one for sale (timing cover) in the classifids

Personally, I myself would take it. It is under warranty by chance? I wonder if something like that is covered and as Ryan said $700 is ALOT cheaper than a cobra motor. Putting in a cobra motor vs a timing cover takes alot more man hours to do therefore leaving you stranded without a car longer.

Unfortunately it's not under warranty anymore. I think I'll just make an appointment for tomorrow. Do you think it will be less if most of the accessories and pulleys are off the front of the motor? I began to do most of it today.

Doubt it. Most the labor is elsewhere than pulleys. The technician might be like let the service manager know things are missing and then you may get a call from the service manager lol

A few months ago I had to replace my timing chains and it took me all of about an hour and 1/2 for just the timing cover. You will have to unbolt the valve covers but you won't need to take them completly off and also take off ALL of the pulleys, the fan/motor, and your power steering pump and reservoir then just find the bolts ,take it off. Then when your new one is ready make sure not to mess up the oil pan gasket, by the way there are 4 bolts down there. Then put some high temp RTV around the lip of the oil pan and then your cover is ready to go back on. I mean this is after I took it off about three time times before so give or take an hour or so. You can do it your self man its not that hard. Good Luck

the power steering pump pulley is the worst part of the job.
