100/93 Octane Gas, Tunning, Rich, Lean, Retard, Advance?

Alright, I am fairly new to tunning and Octane information. I have been reading in length everything I could find and have been experimenting with my tuner. If I understand this the higher the Octane the richer the fuel, right? So, the richer the fuel, the richer the car runs, the leaner you can set it?

I wanna get this right and I am thinking about renting a wideband 02 machine to dial my car in. I wanna do two custom tunes. One for 93 Octane pump gas and the second for 100 Octane AV 3/4 mixed with 1/4 93.

Currently with 93 Octane gas the tune Diablo gives is a little sluggish off the line and doesn't spin the tires. Not sure if this is because of the tire and the tackiness of it or I need to adjust the tune. Am I running to Rich? Should I try a degree leaner? Should I try advancing the spark or retarding it a degree?

How about shift points and shift firmness? I read the engine can take 6500 RPMs but obviously you dont want to push it all the time. I set my shift points from 1-2 at 6000, 5900 2-3rd and left 3-4 at what is was. How about shift firmness at partial and WOT? I havent' messed with it. Partial Shift firmness at 1-2 is 20 PSI. Should this be increased?(25-35PSI) 2-3 at 10PSI. Can you increase this to 15-20? What will this affect and where? What about WOT shift firmness? WOT in 1st - 2nd I noticed that when I increased the firmness my chirpping of tires went away and I got a smoother propelling shift. I like the chirp but I believe the shifter smooth is better for quickness when racing and wear on the car, yes?

I read the torque modulation is off when at stock. I kept this for all gears. When off 100% of the toques is transfere to the case, correct?

How about my spark advance and retard and lean and rich in the 2k-4k band? What should my readings be on my data log and wideband when I test it. Just bought a USB/serial cable connector to log to laptop from Diablo Tuner. What should the readings be on the tuner or log for Air/fuel, MAF, etc? Should I open the throttle all the way Wide Open? How Long? What should my MAF be? What is KR and how do I tell if I have it when I start advancing or retarding, Leaning or Riching my bands?

I would like to get a little more out of my car before I spend the big bucks on an intake and dyno custom tune. Will cost me 800 for Trick Flow Intake, 250 for install and 500 for custom diablo tune and dyno by MRP in Pompano Beach, Florida. They did my gears. They do awsome work. 500 buck for 4:10 gears FRPP, bushings, bearings, gear oil and install and were done in 1 1/2 hour. Ask for Tim. They have a 8.5-8.7 mustang N/A, 800HP!! ALL MOTOR BABY!!!

if you're new to tuning, i'd take it to a professional tuner before attempting to DIY. they have the capability to monitor all the parameters you need to keep in mind when tuning a car. yeah, it's more expensive, but it'll be worth it down the road when you don't blow your motor because you didn't kow what you were doing when you tuned it yourself...
just my opinion though,,,

I wouldnt chance tuning yourself. First without a dyno you cant safely run the car to get the info you need. A good shop will also know how to generally set ur car for your mods and then tweek it to get all the power. Tuning is not a do-it-yourself job and believe me im a big advocate of doing it yourself when practical but this isnt one of those times.

I say install your intake yourself..its cake. And use the money you saved and put that towards a tune.
