i saw a pair of hedman headers and the tubes for the 7 and eight cylinders are "slip fit" why are they like this? easier to install?

Yes the Hedman 88690's have two slipjoints to ease install around steering column. The left side header flange is in two pieces, the front half is attached to the tubes that go behind the steering column. After you swing the column back into place you can slip the two outer tubes together and attach the other half of the flange to the engine. Keeps you from having to remove the entire steering column to slide it through the pipes.

Never had any, but they are good hedders. I won't say they won't leak where the two tubes slip together, but they are designed not to need to be welded. They are tork step hedders meaning the tubes get larger the closer they get to the collector. Supposed to help create more torque.

My flowtech headers are slip joint and they leak at the joint. Don`t have any experience with Hedman though.
