? about slicks

Whats the best size slick to run on a 15in rim on our cars, without having to bang fenders or anything. Another question, will a 14in rim fit fit the rear..... I found a good deal on some lightwieght rims.

you can run a 26 or 28 10.5 on these cars without a problem. the big thing is to get the backspacing right on the wheel. on a 8in wheel, the backsaping needs to be 5.5. on a 10 inch wide wheel the backspacing needs to be 6.5.

Would that size work on a stock 15in V6 mustang wheel? Im having a hard time finding some cheap drag wheels, so I might have to go that route for now.

for those v6 wheels, which arent light weight, i would suggest a 26x10x15 mt slick. how much power and what gear ratio are you running, and what is your trap mph and rpm in what gear?

Yea I know those arent the best rims. Im waiting to hear back on a set of weld drag rims on craigslist, is 15x 7.5 too small?. But anyway..Im about 420rwhp with 3:73's and trapping about 109mph (street tires) shifting into 4th right before the 1/4mi mark.

i run a pair of m/t et streets on a set of v6 mustang wheels. the et streets have a 9in tread section, the slicks are wider and the v6 wheels are a little too narrow.

What size drag rims are you guys using. I found a deal on some but they are only 15x7.5. Is that too narrow of a rim?

I only 26x8/15 M&H race masters, bigger isn't always better. I also run draglites for rear wheels though.

3.73's and 4.10's will run 110mph in 4th, but you were saying thats when you went into 4th. not trying to start arguement, just trying to clear what was said or ment to be said.

Yea im trapping 108-109ish and and pretty much shifting right before the finishline. I usually run the gears out till 5800-6k rpms, So Im not understanding why you guys are shifting at 93mph into 4th. Maybe I need that cleared up. 10in wide rims seems like a lil overkill for slicks, like said above bigger isnt always better. I was thinking I could probably get a 9in wide slick to fit on a 7.5 rim??

It depends at what rpm you shift at. I'm well over a hundred with 3:73's. But I shift at 6500-6600 Rpm. Plus you have to consider tire diameter. I'm still running 26" tall tires.

You must shift around 6k. I have been 130 through the traps still in fourth.

Man the elevation must killing you. I trapped about 115-116 on the average when I 431/419 to the wheels. On a cold day I hit 121 once.

My friends 05 gt with a few bolt ons and exhaust ran 12.88 at 108, that same day. The track was only 550' and it was so cold and dry that we had negative DA numbers. But like I said I still averaged 115-116 at my regular track which is 1200' I have ran where the DA numbers where in the 3700's and still manage 114.

I think you should let it hang out to 6200 rpm since you have the SC.

calculating the gearing, 6k in 3rd is 93.6mph on a 26in tall tire with 3.73's.
