Fuel pressure relief

Alright.. I'm trying to change my fuel filter and I'm waiting on the fuel pressure to relieve. I did exactly what it said in the Haynes manual and it said it might take "10 seconds to 10 minutes" for the car to stop running.. well mine has been running for nearly 30 minutes.. .. why is it doing this???

My car took 0 seconds for the pressure to be relieved. I just unhooked the plug to the inertia switch.

You really don't have to relieve the pressure, unless you want to of course. I have always just changed it without relieving the pressure, there isn't that much fuel that comes out when you take the filter off anyways.

I have removed my pprv. So I never have fuel pressure once the car is shut off.

google tells me that that is the positive pressure relief valve.. lol.. but what would be the purpose of removing it?

It can dump fuel when shifting in between gears because the fuel pressure spikes. This can cause the car to loss fuel pressure for a sec and the car falls on it's face.

Is more previlant in the 03 cobra setups which I use. It also free's up fuel pump duty cycle because it's quite restrictive. This allows it to support a little more hp.
