Whine/Droan

Alright.. I started noticing this today, but after my car has idled for a bit, there is an intense whining or droaning noise that comes out of nowhere. I thought maybe a belt had gotten off track somehow and was rubbing but this is not the case. I have pinpointed the sound to the cai.. I can put my ear right next above the filter and that is definitely where the sound is coming from.. but why is it doing this? The only way I know how to describe the sound is that high pitched sound that accompanies a vacuum cleaner that is similar to a whine or a droan.. does anyone have any ideas?

Check and make sure that everything is tightened up, and that your filter is clean. If it's not that then check your MAF
