96-04 engine block...


is the block in the 96-98 gt's different from the 99-04 block?

block alone, not really. there are the windsor and romeo castings. that all that i can think of off the top of my head.

im just talking bout the block. i have the 96 block and i think i may have cracked the block thats in the car which is a 2000 block...whats the difference, and can i use the block from the 96?

If your using the 96 in your 2000 you'll notice a slight compression bump

Single 67mm turbo, ported pi heads, edelbrock vic jr. manifold w/HPP plenum, terminator shortblock, return fuel system... Goal 600+ rwhp.

how much of a compression bump? i was thinkin about just gettin a new motor from vt if its cracked cause i have another vehicle now and i can let the mustang sit while i save up money.

Dude sweet, I can get just a block from a 96 and raise the compression ???? J/K

with the pistons from the 96 and the PI heads, you should see about 10.5:1 compression...

If you use a whole short block yes. The dish in the top of the pistons isnt as large as the ones in the 99-04s I believe. MM&FF I believe did a write up on it. Putting the PI heads and intake boosted the compression
