Coolant / Radiator Problems

I Came out of the fitness center this afternoon only to find a puddle of coolant sitting underneath my front bumper...

It all started a few days ago, I noticed the car getting really hot, more than usual. I pull into my friends house, and park the car. I heard a sizzling / air getting blown type sound coming from the reservoir, only to figure out that there was no coolant in there at all.

The next day I put in a gallon of 50/50 mix that we had left in the garage, and the reservoir had not been filled up at all. I then went and bought 3 gallons of 50/50 mix from Advanced and put about a gallon and a half in the reservoir, and that topped it off. I let it idle for a while, and then drove it later that night. I had noticed small drips of coolant on the fan blades while sitting in the driveway. I was always noticing a small scent of coolant after that while driving, but wasn't sure if my mind was playing tricks on me. By this point I figured there was a leak, but nothing major yet.

Then again earlier today, I checked the reservoir and it was empty again. I filled it up, and then drove to the health center only to come out to a large sized puddle.

Radiator gone bad? Is there a hole somewhere? Or is it something completely different?

Any help would be great!

check the hoses and check to see if the weep hole on the water pump is leaking, if so replace it...it could just be something simple...keep in mind when your car is hot parts expand so you may not see the leak when its cold

That's whats weird. Today was just a short trip to the gym and after an hour and a half there was a puddle. Its not a far drive, so I am sure it wasn't even that hot.

i guess it could also work in reverse too i guess...when the car is hot stuff expands enough to seal a leak but when it cools down everything kind of shrinks back...i have seen that happen before...and if thats the case i would look for it to be a hose

the easiest and fastest way to find a coolant leak is to do a pressure test. this will take a special tool but it will save u time and money. you may damage the head gaskets if u over heat the engine too much. ..i would not take a chance...check and call a mom and pop garage for $$ on this test or just go to a dealer....good luck

could be just a bad cap. sometimes if it's old it leaks out under pressure.

Yea I will probably do a pressure test soon hopefully. I'll have to check the fluid again now, see how it changed overnight.

I didn't see any fluid coming out of the top of the reservoir, it was all underneath, so I don't think its the cap.

And not going to the gym would be a life destroyer
