yea you shouldnt have to pull the motor to take the heads off you will just have two head bolts on each head that wont come all of the way out because of the strut tower you just gotta tape them up so they wont fall back in.

Quick question about the 2valve to 4 valve motor swap you mentioned... Wouldn't he need a new PCM as well or can his old one be reflashed?

No the head bolts are too long to leave the motor in. They will have to pull the motor. You cant go wrong doing a total rebuild if you can afford it lol, like doc said its extremely extensive and expensive.

As far as a good replacement head you cant go wrong with fox lake, if thats too expensive you may just consider a p&p job, will be much cheaper. I would go with either comp cams or cms, I was told that you dont have to degree the cms cams. You may just think about stoking it while its out, would be a bit cheaper than a total rebuild I would think.

Update: We pulled everything off and we have a bent valve and cracked piston. Where do we go from here? Is there any way to replace the bent valve so I don't have to get new heads? Is getting a stroker kit worth it on our enigines or should I just stay with a stock stroke forged kit? HELP!!!

yes it canbe done... Ivepulled heads in car, and even done head studs in car...

Personally, I would put in a built short block. I personally would build it my self and save a little. But no warranty. I would go with a stock crank, manley h beam forged, and pistions of 2618 alloy. Not the crappy 4032 alloy. Get some built heads or have yours portrd, and some custom ground cams. You will be set for 600-650. And ifyou want more use a different crank, although that crank is not known for failure. Intact I have never seen a motor fail from a stock crank, always something else making it fail...

If I was you then I would just go ahead and do a stroker setup while you have it all out...Now is the time to decide if you are going to stay nitrous or go forced induction later on...

If I build up this engine i'm going to stay with nitrous BUT I found an 03 cobra engine that I might be able to drop in. So the question is: Build up the GT or drop in a cobra?

thats an easy one. get that cobra motor. the 4v respond a lot better to mods and its already built. if the price is relatively the same you'd be a fool not to go with the cobra motor.

For the bolts that wont come out all you have to do is pull them out as far as you can (the ends will clear the block and come up into the head) wrap some tape around them so they don't fall back in and the head lifts right off. Same process to put them back in/put the heads back on.
