So after the nitrous backfire replaced the manifold, spark plugs, egr tube and tons of wires and when I went to turn the key.... sounded like a bent valve. I wanted to throw up. I haven't gotten to take the heads off yet, it says that you have to remove the engine. I'm hoping it's just the valves and not the pistons too. Any suggestions on taking heads off and good replacements? 02' GT btw.

I would not go to Speedtek have not heard good about them. GearsHeads was refered to me by a very good guy. He said that was hands down the best place to do head/cam work like that. And they have turned alot of Mustangs with good numbers. theres also HPP, ive called them a few times and just the customer services was iffy..it was like a hit or miss.

How did you get PTV to bend a valve by just blowing the intake. Remind me exactly how the intake blew? It would require valve float or timing to jump for PTV on that eninge. Or when the intake blew, a piece of the intake went into the combustion chamber. see if you can use a mirror and look in there first. I had a carb butter fly come off once and go in the intake runner of the head, and it rattled like hell. Thought i had a bent valve, but i didnt.

Yea I try to stay clear of speedtek unless I'm getting my nitrous filled. Yea I thought it was weird that it could be a bent valve. I'm hoping that it's a peice of the intake in the valves but i'ts impossible to tell until we take the heads off. We looked with a flashlight for like 30 min.

Well while you are in there, I have some comp 270 cams ill sell cheap if you want them. you just need valve springs and to degree them... Also get the good felpro gaskets... htey hold nitrous better. might as well put in arp head studs too...

And if I was going to get forged internals would this be the time to do them as well?

Well I my head set for the worst case scenario (Building a new engine from scratch or picking one up from a junkyard) so heads and internals might actually not be that horrible in this situation. What will you have to replace when you get into the 500-600hp range other than internals? The block is fine right? I know this sounds stupid after a backfire but i'm thinking about building the engine, getting a new fuel pump, plugs and raising the nitrous shot.

y not just pick up a mach 1 motor, and build that? it will put out more hp than the gt and itll be nicer.. lol 4v .. on top of that you could possibly put the 03-04 cobra sc on it... i think.. and it should bolt right up to the tranny and engine mounts

You are talking about alot more money to rebuild the motor for 600hp than just fixing a bent valve or just R&R-ing the heads. You will need a rods, pistons, rings, bore, balance, all the main cap bolts, main and rod bearings, new head bolts or studs, all the gaskets, better do oil pump gears or an aftermarket oil pump for that much power as well, etc. etc. Its not just "adding" pistons and rods. You are looking at alot more money to do the bottom end. I am not trying to sway you from doing it but i am just giving you the reality of what you need to realisticly look at when you talk about building the motor.

you can pull the heads without removing the engine should be no different from an 01? I have pulled heads from a 98 and an 01 with the motor in the car.
