Rear End Clunk

Hi guys, this is my first post after reading this site for a while. Anyways im having a problem on my 2001 GT and im not really sure what it could be or how to fix it.

When i am driving and i let off of the gas pedal it seems to make a clunk sound. It feels like tension being released from something in the rear but im not really sure. The car is still stock and i dont think this is normal as everyone who gets in my car comments on it.

THE CLUNK YOU ARE HEARING IS THE WEAK FACTORY DIFFERETIAL BUSHINS WHEN YOU GET ON AND OFF THE GAS ITS CAUSING THE REAR TO PINCH YOU CAN TRY AND TIGHTIN THOSE BUSHING OR BUY THE MM URETHANE DIFFERENTIAL BUSHING KIT THIS WILL SOLVE THE PROBLEM YOU CAN GET THE KIT AT LETHAL PERFORMANCE FOR ABOUT 49$ BUT TRY TO TIGHTI N THEM FIRST

turn the caps off! He has a GT which isn't an IRS so it has no "differential bushings". Now with that being said, there is a strong possibility that the control arm bolts are loose. try tightening them and see if that helps.

would tightening the control arm bolts help a rubbing squeaking sound. I only here it at low speeds turning. IE. in parking lots. It my be doing it at higher speeds but I would not hear it over the loud pipes. I have put the car on three racks and see nothing rubbing no bushings torn or any thing. I was starting to think it was the rear end going out. I do lots of burn outs and donuts and the car is leaving more and more one wheel wonders

I am just guessing here but my thought was the track lock ( limited slip what ever it is called) going out, but I do not want to tear any thank apart that does not have to be

today after i get home from class i will go ahead and check the control arm bolts, is there any special way of testing the tightness without actually trying to tighten them ? I ask because i don't want to shear the bolts if i start wrenching em down and they are already tight.

Well i just took my car into carmax to have the clunk looked at along with the brakes and guess what? carmax is clueless.
Their excuse for the clunk is the amount of torque from being a GT in the differential is causing this. Im not even sure how they arrived at this conclusion but to them everything is fine.
I have to look at my warranty info but if they dont fix this problem im going to take the car down to the local big ford dealership instead of the retards at carmax.

if you are hearing a clunk when you are getting on and off the gas its prolly just slack in the drivetrain and thats perfectly normal. and the transmissions are clunky as well. you might want to take it somewhere else for a second opinion but they are prolly right with theres nothing wrong with it

idk I could not imagine being able to sell a brand new car with this. granted this car has 50k miles, I would still assume it shouldnt feel like the back differential is rocking fowards an inch every time I take my foot off the gas pedal.
