engine build or not? (kind of a long story)

hey everyone! i have never owned a Mustang before and i know nothing about them. I recently aquired a really nice 2002 Roush stage 2 with only 6k miles on it for $8,500. The engine had an aftermarket supercharger on it when the oil pump failed and toasted the crank. Everything else seems to be ok. the guy who had it brought it to a shop who did a complete tear down of the engine and was about to put it back together with a new oil pump and cobra crank when they went out of business. The car sat for awhile in the shop all in peices during which point the super charger, H-pipe, and manifolds were stolen. He finally got his car back and bought a new x-pipe and headers. He was just going to use the stock intake manifold instead of the super charger. My question is this: i basically got this car to sell and make money on. could i make more money by building the engine up while it is apart and sell it for more? or should i just put it back together basically stock? would it be cost effective to buy a new supercharger? (since the car is already set up for one with the intercooler and such) If it would be cost effective to modify what parts should i change? I will be doing all this work myself but i really dont know much about these cars and any info/ input would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

-Brian

Mod motors are a complete pain in the ass to work on. Unless you have experience with them prob wouldnt recommend it. Just part it out or if you have the money have the shop do the work for you.

Just go back to stock rather than build it up and sell it for more. You will put more into it than you will get out of it if you do that

Buy a stock complete motor used. Install that and be done if you only plan on selling it for a profit.

my 2v was easy to work on... once i got it out of the car.. if you pull the motor, i found it easier to pull the heads prior to pulling the motor. with the heads off it is a lot easier to pull the motor, or you could drop the k-member, but like stated above, if you have never cracked a motor, make sure you do you research, putting a thrust washer in backwards, or over/under torquing a bolt, or not doing the torque sequence right on the mains/rod bolts is bad juju.

ok, thanks, that's pretty much what i wantd to know. The engine is already out of the car, and is in peices (literally... whoever took it apart took EVERY single nut and bolt off) but all the new parts are there, ready to go back together. I have some engine experience, and i got a nice factory manual that i will use. I'll just put it back together stock. (kind of a shame, but whatever makes money i guess)

Thanks!
-Brian

P.S. the reason the engine died in the first place is because the oil pump died. the car only has 6k miles on it. Is this common? is there a reason the oil pump may have went bad?
