clutch install problems..

hey i have a 02 mustang gt 5 speed! i just replaced my clutch and when i took it for a test drive it kinda shutters a little bit when you let out the clutch! it drives once in gear and doesnt grind any gears. i dont have exhaust on right now cause im waiting for my new exhaust. do you think its shuttering cause lack of exhaust? i guess i wont be able to tell until i get my exhaust on! does anyone have any input or a similar problem when they did the clutch install? is this common when breaking in clutch? thanks

Hmm, wouldnt be by any chance a Spec Stage 1 Clutch would it? I just installed one last weekend, and it shudders at first but as it gets broken in it stops, my cure for that, yesturday i drove to the beach and and checked out all the nice swim suits, (my GF didnt enjoy it as much as I did) but today i got in, no shudder and it works just fine!

it needs to be broke in. and just easing your way thru town is not the way to break in a spec. for some reason the specs seem to like a little abuse (constent shifting) to seat properly. after that, they usually ease up a lot.

My SPEC stage ll has been in for about 5000 miles, and it continually got worse. It is to the point where it sounds like my tranny is going to fall out. Going to switch to a Centerforce or Fidanza as soon as I get some free time to change it.

I have a lil under 500 miles on mine, and the shudder is almost completely gone, one thing that helped was double-clutching, i believe thats the term, clutch in - neutral - clutch out - clutch in - go in a gear, seemed to help break it in and shift a lil better, do you have a clutch kit, like the Steeda Clutch Kit (cable, quadrant and firewall adjuster?)

yeah i got the whole steeda clutch kit...adjustable cable, double hook quadrant, and firewall adjuster..which i think now is over kill i could have just used the quadrant and firewall adjuster with stock cable! well the shutter isnt that bad and i made sure i checked and rechecked all specs and torque ratings. i didnt wanna have to do it again. i have to wait til monday when i get my exhaust in, SLP lm2 catback and bassani x pipe o/r, to actually drive it and put miles on it! thanks for all your help guys
