coolant temp sensor question

hey guys i need some help.

I have a 96 GT and my coolant temp sensor that reads for the gauage inside the car is broken and not reading correctly.

When I ask at advance auto for the part all they seem to come up with is the Coolant temp sensor not the coolant temp sensor gauge.

Any idea where I can get this or how the define it a little better to buy online?

Are you sure that it is indeed the guage at fault or is it the sensor? Have you run tests on the leads to determine you are getting valid voltages/current/resistance from the sensor?

If you findings determine the gauge itself is fault, which I doubt, then you will probably be better off getting a replacment guage from a dealer or junkyard. I don't imagine your run of the mill parts stores will carry such distinct parts.

Check out Auto Parts Fast at RockAuto
Typically the gauge sensor will have 1 wire, and the ecu sensor will have 2. Don't ask me why!

well it was working fine and i was having cooling fan problems so i tried changin everything related to it

however before i changed it the gauage inside the car was reading n everything

but being that it wuz like 12 bucks i just bought a new one

and now i get no read on the inside, like it will barely get to N of normal yet my car is overheating.(due to my fan not working, currently trying to get one i keep gettin shit aftermarket ones from auto part stores and I dont wanna run one to a switch etc, just want an OEM one so i'm bout to go to FORD N see how much they charge. )

and i believe its the sensor i think the gauge inside the car reads fine just the sensor is the wrong one.

cause you kno how we have 2 coolant temp sensors i bought both brand new ones, coolant temp sensor and coolant temp sensor (gauge)

I think the coolant temp sensor gauge is bad, but ppl at these auto part stores only kno what the coolant temp sensor is and not the 2nd one that works to the gauge.
