I have nothing against mexicans at all, but you gotta admit alot of them have some funny taste in vehicle mods. Except lowriders..... they did those up right

not too long ago i outran a modded s2000. He said that it had "full exhaust and a couple of engine parts." I dont know what that equals out to but i was still able to start pulling hard on him right at the end of second and all through third gear.

i still think the gt will take the 2000 stock for stock....suit yourself as far as the exhaust goes...i've never known anyone to work backwards as far as the exhaust or any other mods go unless the car was getting sold...to each his own...good luck...

this really shouldn't be a racial debate.

my self i have also seen some funky stuff come out of TJ but then again i have seen a lot of jacked up looking cars with CA plates as well.

it's not your race or where you came from that makes your car look like a can of ass.

it's the retard "modding" it.

The large reason that there are little to no hp gains from replacing the exhaust, cat-back, on any car is due to air-flow. In air intake and exhaust it's all about how quickly and how much volume you can take in/push out and any single portion of that system can bottle-neck the entire system if it cannot flow with the other parts. I.E. if you have a large catback exhaust that is designed to increase airflow and stop restrictions in the escaping of exhaust gases but still have the stocker midpipe (which I should remind you, on the 99 GT convertible, has 3, count em 3 catalytic converters per pipe, for a total of 6) restricting airflow like a mofo, well it's not too hard to conceive very little gains in hp (well, you never gain hp in exhaust, you just free up lost hp) when the real problem is those nasty little cats blocking your airflow before it even gets there.

As to this S2k/4.6 debate... I had a buddy that had an S2k in Columbia, and we both had lightly modded (mainly bolt on) parts. We were dead even when I had my stock exhaust, but when I installed an O/R H pipe and flowmaster deltas, I walked him like a dog. Theres more to exhaust than one thinks.

^ thats a very true and well supported statment...on my 02 gt i had 2 cats per pipe....now i have 0! i noticed the difference even when i had 2 hi-flo cats...to say that replacing the stock and very restrictive exhaust does nothing for the car is just not true...if that were the case then there would also be no need for headers...and we all know that the headers are a vital part of a complete exhaust system. to me a complete exhaust kit doesnt only mean tail pipes and mufflers...to me an exhaust system starts at the intake...(obviously the intake and or CAI has nothing to do with exhaust but it does play a part in the breathing of the engine...just as the exhaust system does)...my idea ofa complete system is as follows:
CAI, Long Tube Headers, No Cats, x or h pipe, strait through style mufflers i.e. bullits...slp etc... and a tune......with all those mods done PRIMARILY to the exhaust, with exeption to the CAI and tune...your looking at gains of up to 30-35hp.

yea, there are always exceptions to everything. Not all mexicans drive fucked up cars with spinner hubcaps, obviously. Not all white people drive lifted trucks that probably never see the dirt. But when you see one of either, 9 times out of 10 you can guess who's driving them. Same with the mini trucks loaded with ladders or gardening suplies going 50 down the highway. Different cultures have different styles. Some are funnier than others. I certainly dont get all pissed off when someone says trailer parks are full of white trash, or look at that redneck's truck with the roll bar and the gun rack. you're taking this a little too seriously, it was only a joke in the first place.

i completely agree, but getting caught without a cat. in Southern California is a major fine. Plue they send you to the smog ref for further inspection for more illegal parts. They've been known to have check points for these things, although they mainly target the imports. I'd rather not deal with the headache. BTW, my convertible only has 2 cats per side last time i checked, but i could be wrong. I'll reply later if i notice differently.

Well, i believe i even said i ment a cat back exhaust in one of my previous posts, but if not, thats mainly what i was talking about. x pipes or off road h pipes and headers will obviously help some, but i still classify cat back systems useless noise makers. Even if they were a 5 hp gain, who is actually going to notice that on a 260hp 3400lb vehicle. I barely noticed it on my 370lb motorcycle. If anything, i think you'd loose a bit of low end torque, which would compromise drivability more than it helped. BTW, i have no intentions of racing my car. Its a daily driver and nothing more. I drive more than 3k miles a month durring racing season and the noise will drive me nuts over long periods. I need to be well rested when i get to a race and noise will deffinately make you tired. This is my sole intention of getting ride of my pipes. I will mod my car, but i will never do things that will annoy me down the road (i.e. gearing, exhaust, high stall torque converter, harsh suspension). The mods i'm more interested in is head/valve work, displacement, braking, and some handling. Possibly forced induction, but only mild psi.
