problems with transmission

Okay so I was backing out of a parking stall yesterday and my car wouldn't go out of reverse, I tried and tried And it was still stuck, turns out now I have to put the ebrake on, let the clutch out a bit in reverse and then it will release. WTF is the problem? Sorry if there's threads about this, but I'm on my phone.

did you try it again? Could have been a fluke. Sounds like something wasnt lining up in there and the little pressure you put on her using the e-brake loosened it up.

If Ford were smart the 2010 Stangs would come with a 6-speed standeard because the 3650 is such a piece of shit. After hearing all the problems with them, it makes me glad mine is auto.

well my tranny has always been difficult to shift into reverse, even when i got it fixed from other problems, id have to go into 1st and then it goes into reverse fine, i just thuoght it was a t45 problem, but its usually easy to get into reverse, just doesnt pop out and sometimes grinds when i try to pop it out even with the clutch in. shifts fine in all 5 gears though.

i don't know if this is the same on a manual transmission vehicle, but my moms old tbird had the same problem.. but it was an auto.. park or reverse was a pain.. i don't remember specifically what caused the problem.. (i was young and not into cars yet).. but i remember it coincided with her brake lights not functioning properly.. are they working on your car?

I had my Mustang get stuck in reverse once, it turned out to be a broken fork. I was never able to get it out of reverse, and had to have it towed to the transmission shop where I had the tranny rebuilt.

what did that run you, and what kind of parts did you end up putting in? how long did the rebuild take? i ask because reverse in my car is on its way up fucked creek, and i'm all out of paddles. it is really difficult to shift into reverse, and sometimes when i can get it into reverse, it pops out after the car rolls about a foot...

I would get it rebuilt at Rick's. In this instance (it was several years ago) I had it rebuilt at Aamco Transmissions, before I knew about Rick's and I think before he was even in business. I had it rebuilt again last year at Rick's with racing parts to beef it up.

i remember you posting something about Rick working on your tranny. if i remember right, it was holding up my engine rebuild lol. did Rick get you the parts, or did you source them and drop them off? what did it end up setting you back? i'm trying to get an idea of how expensive it'll be. shouldn't cost more than my engine rebuild, at least i hope not...

It definitely didn't cost as much as the engine rebuild, that was about $2500. I'm don't remember exactly how much the tranny rebuild was, but I think it was around $1600. That was for parts and labor, plus an adjustable clutch kit. I had Rick get the parts for me.
