Weird intermittent problem?

On 2 different occasions my car completely dies under hard acceleration. The first time I thought I blew off a intercooler pipe after the MAF. After pulling over and examining the pipes all looked fine. I got back into the car and it fired right up. Now fast forward 2 weeks and it happen to me again. I tried firing it back up but it didn't start as I was drifting. I pulled off the road and then it fired right up, and all seems fine.

I have had thrown a code recently for a missing cop. But I have yet to replace it. I think maybe my chip is lose on the ECU?

is it like the traction control kicks in when its not supposed to? or does the car completely die?

Is there a fuel cut off built into the ECU's? I know my friend's EVO has this shit where if his boost peaks too high, instead of going lean the car just dies. It'll crank right back up afterwards and no lights are thrown. I don't have a boosted Mustang, I'm just throwing that idea out there.

It's usually right before I shift, so maybe the fuel pressure is dropping off to fast between shifts. I have removed all the things that would cause back pressure in the fuel system.

Today it died shortly after starting it right in the garage, and the mileage on the odometer was replaced with all dashes ---------------- and it wouldn't start. I cycled the key a few times and the numbers came back up and it started. I took the ECU out and the chip seemed to be firmly taped in? I'm starting to think maybe the chip or ECU is giving me fits?

my guess would be a wiring problem. You might be losing voltage or a ground which would kill the spark and quite possibly throw the code for the cop. I can see it happening between shifts as load is transferred perhaps just enough to "wiggle" the loose connection. If you have a mechanism to datalog the voltage you may be able to pinpoint if that is indeed the problem.

Of course this can be drawn out to the other basic electrical checks...i.e. battery, alt, etc...

I also start leaking fuel at the injector on number 8 and a tiny tad on number 2.
I started smelling gas on the way home when I was flogging on it a little bit. Pulled into the garage and found the leaks

I would say start at the battery terminals and grounds to see if they are loose.
