supercharger idler pulley squeal video

I think the chirping noise is coming from the idler pulley that I just replaced but you can't hear it over the supercharger whine in the video. You can see the pulley kind of wobble though and every time it does that I hear a chirp. Does anyone know what I can do to fix it? It sucks because it's a cheap plastic pulley and it's brand new.

Okay I don't know why it's not working, but it works for me if you click the link at the top of the video. Someone let me know if the link doesn't work.

Yeah it annoys me especially with the windows down. It does it worse at higher rpms.

I already tried wd40 and a new pulley so maybe it's not that pulley it just looks/sounds like it.

I dunno man I highly doubt that the pulley should be moving like that. You posititve its installed correct.

Its just a bolt with a little plate under it, I don't see how it could be wrong. I put the old one back on and it does the same wobble.

Yeah I know it's like a plastic composite piece of crap. On the old pulley the belt started to wear through it a little bit.

that wobble doesn't look right at all. have you attempted to put any additional spacers on it to limit its movement? Is the plate you are talking about the correct thickness for the application? I would imagine that movement will just wreck havoc on the belt over time.

The plate goes between the bolt and the pulley. There is nothing between the supercharger bracket and the pulley. The plate is from vortech, I bought another one because the first one I had chipped because the pulley used to rub on the alternator. I had to grind the front of the alternator down to stop it rubbing.

Here is a pic from the instructions. It looks like it has a metal pulley that's different from the one I have put I have the same part number as the instructions say so I don't know.

Can you manipulate the pully by hand with the engine off? A simple washer could solve the wobble if you find one that leaves enough clearance. It almost seems as if the pulley width is not exact or the bolt is not correct or installed all the way. I assume the bolt is threaded only at the tip.

It may not be a problem with the pulley, but with another pulley not running true(inline). a belt chirp is more than likely out of line or "twisted pulley's. squirt the belt with water and see if it goes away

Could it be that the pulley was installed icorrectly? I just checked mine and there is a dust protector on the back of the pulley. The deepest part of the dust protector should be facing the rear of the car.
