Well it's official...

...my stang has some Chrysler in it...well just a weebit anyway. More on that later in this book. Just got back from the paint shop and have to say that I am pretty pleased with the outcome. Skip long story if you want to see pics Silver is the color I decided to go with...looks white in the second and third pic but didn't have the best lighting conditions to show the true color...plus it's not clearcoated yet.

Just a little back ground info for those who didn't read my earlier post on trying to decide what color I was going to paint the upper most ridge of my cowl on the hood. I had my mind set on painting that area of the cowl white. Then I had some friends and even the painters who worked at the shop tell me that unless I had some other white on the car that it would be too much. I had a few of you members give me ideas but the hoods that I viewed were painted generally the same way and I wanted to be different. I have not seen any other hood painted like this and if anyone knows of anyone or can find me a picture of a cowl hood painted like this I would like to see it to compare for any similarities or differences? It was down to the wire to either just paint it all blue or go with the end result of what you see and I chose the latter.

One of the painter's told me to go with silver because it would match the stock rims on my car but I told him that I had some chrome ones that will be on the car for most of the year and will get pulled off towards winter to be able to drive the car below 32 degrees. I will still drive the stang as long as there is no snow or salt on the roads I have drag radials outback on those chromes and I don't know how bad cold temps tear up the drag radials but have read they can crack but anyway I most likely will not run them after November because that is when temps start to fall around the freezing mark here in central il..

The stock bullitt rims are what ford calls 'gun powder metal'...I think, can't remember for sure??? Painter was showing me the books they have on all the painted parts on cars and the names of each specific paint the automobile manufacturers use. Then the same painter that I had been talking too suggested this really bright metallic silver that Chrysler used. I told him I wanted the silver to stand out in the sun and he suggested this one shade of silver...I think it looks awesome in the photos. Now it has not been clearcoated yet and don't mind the reflection on the hood from the heat lamps from in the paint booth as getting a good shot was near impossible with the limited space I had to move around in. But it is rough idea of how so far it has turned out. The clear coat is going to really put shine into it so getting the full effect won't happen until I can get some pics in the sun and gonna detail the rest of the car with the chrome 2003 cobra rims.

The only other option I thought about was to go black where the silver is at because of my dark tint and the black mirrors...thought it would flow in real nice and also was suggested by the body shop owner to do a flat black on the upper most cowl. I told him while that might look good because of how dark my windows are...it for one isn't going to jump out at ya like this would because of the nature of black itself and for two I wanted to be different.

Sorry for such the long story as I know lot of you might hate to read something this long but I just wanted everyone to know that I had a hard time making my mind up and there is probably going to be people who don't like the way it looks and that is fine also. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion but the most important thing is that I enjoy the look of it because I have to live with it and no one will convince me otherwise to change it.

I don't have the bill yet but they are pretty good painters...30 yrs plus experience...quoted around 700 but that was without the 2-tone...they painted the underside too...might be kinda high but they had to do some work to get the hood to line up to near perfect...so some labor hours are going to be added into that grand total...but it is going to be somewhere in that neighborhood???

You and me both...I just wanted to give a quick teaser to everyone. The only bad thing is it is suppose to rain for the next 3 days here in the area and heavy rain is a surety. That hurricane that was down near the gulf states has worked it's way up to my area and is going to dump inchs of rain on the area I am hoping by the weekend things clear out so that I can get some better pics

Thanks! Yeah I know long story...yada yada yada...lol...I am on vacation and just felt like typing till my fingers told me to stop...lol...the silver that I used on the hood comes from a chrysler...not sure on what years, makes or models but I will get that info when I pick the car up and post it. Painter told me that it was one of the coolest looking silvers he has seen as a painter...and it's got more metallic in it than most silvers and really shines with the sun...so I am hoping that when I do take pics it's going to really look good with the sonic blue and the stock bullitts...till I take em off and replace them with the chrome ones I have...lol.

Cool...wouldn't happen to have a photo would you? I am sure some colors can pull this off much more nicely than others?

Thanks, this particular paint shop has been busy, and with the Labor Day Holiday past and the fact that they are only working four 10 hour days...has seemed like forever that my car has been in the shop...took it in last Thursday...but the wait may be well worth it in the end

Thanks to everyone for the postive feedback...I promise to post much better pics when I can in the next few days.

These are the rims that I am going to be putting on my car. I had to send one rim back because of a flaw in the chrome from the factory...kinda pissed about that but at least they sent me another one. Just have to have the tire dismounted off the fuked up rim and mounted on the new rim. The pic of the new rim is one of the rear ones...10.5 inch rim...supporting 315/35/17 drag radials. The fronts will have 275's on em.

And yes that is a Buick Grand National in the background of the third pic. It's my dad's and he would be interesting in selling it if anyone is interested or know of anyone that would be interested. It's not stock and has an upgraded turbo on it. PM me for more information...didn't want to use this section to advertise but I am sure some of you would have picked up on that in the pic...so I thought I would address it

The combo of the sonic blue and dark tint plus the hood and rims should be easy on the eyes and or pleasant to the camera's lens when the sun comes out...can't wait to get it back to detail it and get pics
