I have the tapping fun too... But it mostly only does it when it's warm and it's more noticeable in 2nd and 4th gear... Though apparent in all gears.
It's more annoying than anything and I hate to drive the car while it taps... If it's tapping i just move my throttle a hair in and it'll stop... I am 80% sure it's the Lash adjusters... Also I only have 80k miles on my 99 GT. Brand new IAC and Dorman intake installed... with BBK Performer Throttle body and K&N Air.. Also my car is really low haha! 2 1/4 off the ground...

It would but my car doesn't ever tap on deceleration. It's always with throttle. Until the car gets warms then it'll sometimes tap on Idle now...

I'm similiar but my tap is only when the engine is warm. When it's cold theres no sound till it starts to warm up. Started out only on acceleration or at steady rpm between 2k-3.5k but now it's at idle, accel and decel..I've got half a mind to sell that damn car..

The way it acts is why I've figured it to be the Lash Adjusters.

Mine isn't close to as bad, but that is the idea. I am getting the feeling it is the tensioners.

If you havent done cams then it isnt PTVC issues. My car sounded like that when the timing chain went bad. When we opened it, one of the guides, one which is completely plastic had disappeared into pieces and all others were really bad. The other, the plastic had faded away and the chain was on the bare metal, went through it and ate away the tensioner. The loose chain damaged my timing adjuster.
Check Out the damage and then the new everything ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() [IMG] ![]() ![]()

My car doesn't start ticking until it is warm... Hence.. Lash Adjusters...
