Just my 2 cents. Why would you ever want to beat the heck out of your car and tires going 70 mph around a corner spinning your wheels and hitting your emergency break ?(Time for an I.Q. check) - Indy and Grand Prix formula one racing takes ultimate control - drifting isnt worth what it costs in damage to your car and perhaps yourself. Leave it to the ricers !!!
OK here comes the SH___ Storm I know but think about what you are doing !!! |

Beckerb any kinda of racing is hard on your car, what do you think throwing 500+ hp down in an instant does to a car with the widest stickiest tires you can fit. racing isnt easy on a car nor is it cheap. Id say drifting allows the equalest competition, since mods arent that noticable. Skills will prevail.

Show me a racing style that isnt hard on your car. If it breaks, upgrade it with something bigger and better... I abuse the hell outta my car, but its the most well maintaind car Ive seen also. I didnt build it to baby it

its kinda funny to see people here not being able to see how drifting would be a shitload of fun!
its like doing a short powerslide around a corner/intersection, but drifting takes the slide much further and drawn out. the amount of tire rubber u burn through in a short period of time is pretty rediculous but it looks like SO much fun! ive done several powerslides(who hasnt?) and ive tried to do a drift a couple times but I havent been successful yet.

Like Modmustang97 stated, a panhard or watts with some SFC's. I would even go with a torque arm just to get rid of all four links altogether if you are serious about drifting your car.
Might want to check this out! Drifting Drift Live Might want to inquire as to what his set up is: Vaughn Gitten Jr.'s Mustang ![]() Also, keep in mind everyone that a lot of the drift stars of today were competitive rally racers. Rally racing is HARD to do well! I think alot of you straight line racers need to expand your horizons a little and look beyond the 1/4 mile as far as what our cars are capable of. John

Watts link will do absolutely nothing for your traction off the line, good or bad. What a panhard bar/watts link does is laterally locate the rear axle. It's been said already, but you really need to go to a better rear suspension setup that properly locates the rear axle. You're getting wheel hop because the 4-link setup allows the axle to laterally move 1" either direction (2" of total movement). This is also what causes the snap-oversteer that happens in a Mustang: you go into a corner, the axle floats laterally until it binds, and then that momentum that was being abosorbed in lateral movement of the body relative to the axle is now lateral movement of the body and axle relative to the ground. There's three choices for a serious rear suspension setup: *Torque Arm *5-link *Cobra IRS At the very least, get a panhard bar and LCAs. UCAs are a waste of money for anything outside of drag racing. I need to reiterate that point, because it's a common misconception: aftermarket upper control arms/UCA bushings are a waste of money for anything outside of drag racing.
