I'm new here! Quick question

This is my first post on this site...Just got my new mustang in June and am about to start work on it. My friend has a mustang just like mine...(I have a 2001 Yellow GT Automatic.) she got a basic cold air intake and says it makes a big difference in her horsepower. Didn't know if any one else had gotten this and had a big improvement on horsepower. It was just a pipe and a filter it was not the full intake system. It cost like 50 bucks. I saw them on EBay for that price. I just don't want to waste my money if she is just blowing this out of porportion.
Also didn't know if anyone knew a great way to save on gas. What could I put in or change? Around where I live tons of people race and I seem to always get on the front line and get a car that wants to race. I can't say NO!!! Especially since my last car was a Cavalier! And plus I love to race guys! It's great when a girl beats 'em! LOL Any info for a beginning with fixing up a mustang! I can't wait to get started!

well for one, a simple CIA is not going to make a lot of power. at best maybe 5hp, and your really not going to feel it at all. youd be better off just getting a k&n stock replacement filter to go in your stock air intake. you can remove the factory silencer and it will help out a lot. exhaust is another mod most people do first. but if you want to make your car faster without making it get bad gads mileage i say put a set of 4.10 gears in the back. your gas mileage will go down about 2-3 mpg but its def worth it with the extra performance and acceleration it will give you.

cia is not the best mod you can do and its really not going to make a difference unless you flowing a ton of air which comes from p&pd heads and bigger cams.

welcome to the site!!! alos and we need to see some pics of the stanger

oh and if you just have to have a CIA, dont go with those cheap ones from ebay, and stay away form anything that is metal. cia is for colder air and if the pipes are metal its going to absorb heat and hurt you more than it will help. go with a k&n cia
