tachout 2nd, hard into 3rd.

I just got back from Iraq (finally), got into my stang, installed the Hurst short throw shifter and got rid of all the slop into 2nd and 4th, but now when i tach out 2nd and go into third it jams. Jams and doesnt wanna go in until the tach falls some, which is gunna kill my quarter time. Some pontiac guy told me something about the synchro mesh...cant remember exactly what he said, but i figured this must be a likely problem on stangs because mine is pretty new. Anyways if anyones had this problem and got a solution lemmy know this drives me crazy, thanks.

yea i had a similar prob on my 01 SVT and its not cheap to fix sounds like your synchros

i think there may be a recall on something like that on that year model. i would talk to the ford dealership or hopefully someone on the site nows about that recall

did it happen before the hurst? might wanna try the tri ax before spending an assload on a tranny rebuild

yeah you said it didnt do it before the shifter? def look into that before doing the tranny. mine does that here or there but its weird, its never happend when im wide open and realy grabing gears hard but sometimes under normal driving it like gets stuck before going in and a i gota just pull back a little and push it in again.

sometimes it feels like if i don't push it into third with a little power behind it, it just won't go in...like you have to put it in third like you mean it, I don't have jams or any noises, but I can't just slap into third by breathing on it like I can go into fourth...

possibly the stops may not be adjusted?? that happened to me with my hurst. it many not be installed right either make sure its totally flat you know?

did you remove the stops? the 3650 has built in stops so it's bad for the tranny if you have them on the shifter

Sounds like the same problem I have with mine except it was fourth gear. I had to slam it into fourth for it to go in. Mine is in the shop right now it is the synchros. I can let you know how the pricing is if you want.
