Launching

can someone give me some tips on launching so I don't spin through almost 3 gears in a race? I did a search and can't find what I need.

just get out some where and practice. learn your car really good and find the sweet spot of where your car wants to be. if you can get good and comfortable comming out of the gas just enough you will hook a hell of a lot better

for some reason just the way you worded that made it click...haha, anyway...yeah I wasted a celica gt tonight, but I spun through almost 3 gears, but once I caught traction it was over for the celica anyway...

I love smoking the ricers,...but it's not a good bragging point. A Celica Gt has like 140 hp at best. Kill'em all as far as I'm concered though bro! If you really want to make the most out of your launch there is two things your going to need to start out with. Tires,.....Drag radials are my perfered choise. Not to obvious and not to expensive to replace every month or so.......just kidding, they last like a month,....seriously. And of course gears. Gears and sticky tires will take your hole shot to a whole nother level. Just be ready to upgrade that clutch soon after.

gears and tires will help but taking time and practice will be the best help you can get. i do all mine in the rain; if you can launch and keep spinning, sliding, etc. down to a minimum you can do it on dry pavement.

practice is the way to do anything and get good but a stock gt will spin more if lower the and change the way the car handles by upgrading you will feel the will launch alot better

but yeah, I think that I am going to start practicing in the rain, that makes good logical sense

i think he meant lower the tire pressure(18-20psi at the lowest just to race) but i wouldn't ride around on anything lower than 28.

i wouldn't practice in the rain. you need to practice in the same conditions you'll be racing in. so the "feeling" won't change. plus its real easy to lose control unnecessarily. IMO

we all no mustang are shit in the rain so you would not be racing in the rain just practice the way the car drives and what i was taking about is that stock suspension is not the best for hooking and handling put some sub frame upper and lower control arms lower the car with so good spring and strut, shocks sway bars and you will feel the diffence in my eye handling comes first

I wouldn't try to race it in the rain anyway, that just sounds dangerous, but practicing the launch in the rain seems like it might actually make sense, but also practice in dry so the feel doesn't change when I do race. Also when I race it at the track it won' tbe the same anyway because of the glue.

i am not trying to promote any one to go and hurt themselves by practicing in the rain but it will get a person more comfortable with the idea and feel for feathering. true conditions arent the same but the feeling and reaction of what to do under spinning will. you should have mind over matter under any conditions, otherwise thats when shock, panic, etc will set in and could screw things up

Yeah, I went out and practiced some today, it wasn't raining, but I got my exhaust on today, so i was in the mood to go out driving, and out here there are shit tons of back roads that never have traffic on them, so I was just practing a few launches, and I got it to where I would barely spin, feathering the gas instead of the clutch, I think I can get this, my launching was so much better afterwards

all it takes is practice and a little trial and error.

you must be a few sandwiches short of a picnic basket if you think you are going to get better by practicing in the rain. Just practice in a safe environment so you don't kill someone with your stupid ways, and here is another hint, don't just mash the freaking gas, its called gradualy pushing on it. i almost guarantee that if you gradually push the gas it won't spin.
KEEP IT ON THE TRACK!
