idle rpm w/ cams

I did a bit if looking around and as usual didnt find very much. I was just curious for those of you running cams what do you have your idle rpm set at?

you should be able to have it set where ever you want it set with proper tunning....unless you're running some very, very radical cams

even mild cams will require a bump in the idle. 800 will normally work for most cams. Mild cams could probably get by with 750 or 700. Stock idle is ~640. The lower you idle, the cooler they sound, but the closer to stalling you may get.

Exactly why I asked. I was curious what everyones was but also noticed when I set mine lower I got more lope but noticed a different smell in the exhaust so ive been leaving it at 650-700 range. Definitely doesnt sound as good but atleast the exhaust smells right.

Mines at 1000. Stage 2 blower cams though. Ill try to turn it down a little bit when its all said and tuned but for now i like not stalling out at stop lights. It used to be at about 1100 sadly.
